Like you, we were really looking forward to getting out of the house and back to camp! However, the recent announcement and subsequent restrictions for Metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire, by Premier Daniel Andrews has meant that we cannot re-start our camp programs when we had originally hoped.

We've been working hard in the past few months to ensure that everyone's health and safety will continue to be People Outdoors number one concern, especially regarding COVID-19.

Camps themselves have finally had the opportunity to reopen and these restrictions will affect many of the Australian Camps Association Members that are located outside the restricted areas, as groups from Melbourne cannot travel to regional areas for the next six weeks.

Once these six weeks of restrictions have passed, more than ever, our campers and staff need to return to camp to foster friendships and reap the benefits of experiences outdoors.

Australian research (OYPRA) has shown that “Outdoor learning experiences provide a much needed break for young Australians from their screens to experience something real. Australia has some of the most beautiful natural environments in the world, and they need to be made more accessible to younger people as part of their personal development and to support their mental health and wellbeing. Camps and outdoor learning programs offer a solution to strengthen and support the mental health of young Australians”

We know that with a bit of common sense and effort, our camps can continue to offer a fantastic outdoor experience and our campers will continue to be very well looked after.

At People Outdoors, we've developed a COVIDSafe Plan. Check out our last update (June) to see what we will be implementing once we can resume our programs in line with government advice.

Our upcoming programs can now be found online along with our latest newsletter.

Thank you all for your understanding and flexibility at this time, we will continue to keep you updated on the resumption of our programs (likely in September) as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, or if you’d like to attend camp again (or for the first time) please contact us at the People Outdoors office on 03 9863 6824 or via email.

We can’t wait to be back at camp with you again!
