Our online 'virtual camps' have been a success!

Nicknamed 'People Indoors' these one-hour online sessions allow campers to socially interact with other campers and our staff whilst participating in fun activities from the comfort of their own home.

So far we have run six successful virtual camps and all campers have had lots of fun. These online camps include fun games such as bingo, scavenger hunts, some dancing and exercise.

A big thank you to all of the Disability Support Workers and the office staff who have made these online camps possible.

Participants have been heavily involved in the program development of each session. We have regular conversations about the type of activities they would like to do and bingo was a popular activity - we make our own board at the start of the session and then play the game.

We have also explored some virtual tours and got our dance moves on. We have ran a few craft activities, which are also another favourite for the group. We have made origami bookmarks and decorated our own face marks during 'dress up week'. We like to break up our sessions by having a stretch half way through. We all contribute a stretch that the group will try - some more difficult than others.

Another major part of the sessions is the conversations between the group. Sometimes it is just checking in with each other and how their week has been. Other weeks it is a bit more serious - the most recent was who was going to win the football final later that night. It was a sensitive topic for some with not everyone agreeing with who was going to win. We all had a great laugh during that conversation.

We usually finish off the sessions with a quick game on zoom. We often play hangman, celebrity heads or Pictionary. This ensures the sessions finish with everyone having a good laugh before they say goodbye.
