Charter of Human Rights & Responsibilities
The Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 is a Victorian law that sets out basic rights, freedoms and responsibilities of all people living in Victoria. Organisations such as People Outdoors that deliver services on behalf of the government must act according to the Charter.
Twenty human rights are protected in the Charter such as basic rights, including the right to be treated equally, to be safe from violence and abuse, to be part of a family and to have our privacy respected.
The Charter applies to all people, including children. There are some general rights in the Charter which are significant to children (Summary of the Charter Rights Particulary Relevant to Children).
