How to Choose The Best People Outdoors Camp for You!
Camp is an amazing opportunity to go for an adventure and spend some time outdoors. People Outdoors provides an opportunity to make friends, engage in a variety of activities and enjoy what the outdoors has to offer. Operating under the NDIS scheme, People Outdoors offers a range of camp experiences.
Types of People Outdoors Camps:
People Outdoors gives you the opportunity to choose between overnight camps or weeklong camps. This flexibility ensures that the camp is best suited to you.
Some of the social benefits of going to camp are building self-confidence and communication skills, promoting positive connections, participation and independence and it promotes trying new activities and new experiences. Australian research has shown camps and outdoor education programs can lead to improved mental health and wellbeing in young people, you can read more about this research here.
When choosing your camp ask yourself or the person attending:
Be aware of your comfort with certain situations when choosing your camp, this camp is meant for you!
People Outdoors also offers options for 1:3 Support, 1:2 Support and 1:1 Support (learn more here). Camping is a wonderful way for people to connect with one another by “unplugging”.
Sensory Overload
Sensory overload is something that some campers may experience when going on camp. The People Outdoors team has many strategies to support campers who may feel overwhelmed and generally anxious. All programs are staffed by trained and passionate professionals and volunteers.
