The Australian Camps Association Statement of Commitment to Child Safety

The Australian Camps Association, (ACA) including People Outdoors (PO) are committed to child safety and wellbeing in accordance with the 11 Child Safe Standards, compulsory minimum standards for all organisations in Victoria providing services to young people under the age of 18 years.

The ACA and PO has zero tolerance for child abuse and all forms of harm to children.

The ACA and PO is committed to:

  • Responding to and investigating reports of child abuse;
  • Ensuring that all staff, contractors, and volunteers are aware of relevant laws, organisational policies and procedures and the organisation’s Code of Conduct;
  • Ensuring that all adults within the ACA/People Outdoors community are aware of their obligation to report suspected abuse of a child in accordance with these policies and procedures;
  • Ensuring that all staff, contractors and volunteers are aware of their obligation to observe the Code of Conduct (particularly as it relates to child safety);
  • Providing support and training for staff, contractors and volunteers in undertaking their child safety responsibilities.

The ACA/PO is committed to the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. The ACA/ PO remains committed to Indigenous reconciliation.

With heaps of activities on site, plus many off site activities nearby, you will never be bored at CYC The Island.

Some of the activities you might participate in on this camp are - beach games, low ropes course, canoeing and more.
