Adventure for All Camp (Friends and Siblings)
People Outdoors held an 'Adventure For All Camp' this year (2022) where we invited our campers’ friends and siblings to come along to a camp. The campers we all very excited when they arrived at the sign-in to get to take part in a camp with their friends, brother or sister.
The activities that they took part in during the weekend consisted of facing their fears and getting pulled up by the other campers and swinging by the Giant swing. Some kids kicked around a football while waiting their turn for this which was fun. After that, the group went and fired some bows and arrows in Archery. After a lovely lunch, they got themselves into teams and built some very creative huts during the hut-building activity. The group then went and tested their balancing skills on the low ropes course and a rock-climbing wall to finish. It was one of the camper’s birthdays so we all got to celebrate a disco that evening and got a chance to play all their favourite tunes to dance the night away.
On the second day, the campers took part in an activity called the Amazing Race! This involves a campers completing mixture of different activities around the campsite in teams. Each team works together and receives a score for each activity.
It was incredible to see the interaction between all the campers. Each camper respected and support one another in such a caring way.
Please find attached the write-up from Luca Sirianni:
A while ago I went on a camp made possible by People Outdoors. My brother has a rare disability called Coffin-Siris Syndrome so he is missing a part of his brain.
He goes on these camps multiple times a year and loves it. But one time they allowed siblings to come. It was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone.
We arrived at the Lady Northcote camp and got to know our surroundings. We went along and participated in fun activities that both disabled and non-disabled could enjoy.
Overall my favourite activity was the giant swing.
Thank you People Outdoors for all that you do!
